Michael Ware

Journalist

In early 2010, Michael revealed that he was dealing with severe Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) from his years as a war correspondent. CNN offered him a one-year leave of absence. During that time, it was also discovered that he had suffered Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI) from a number of concussive blasts.

Because of these injuries, Michael made the difficult decision to not return to CNN and his career as a conflict journalist. He instead returned home to Brisbane and formed a film company in order to produce documentaries. His first feature-length film will be a look at the war as he saw it from the ground as it escalated and expanded.

He is also free-lancing for television news network ABC in Australia, giving talks about the US and Australian roles in the wars, and trying to raise awareness of the difficulties faced by the military and civilians whose lives were most affected by them.

Since joining Twitter last year, Michael has been posting links to music and video clips as well as recommending the occasional movies, and there is now a blog page just to compile those tweets.
